*Please note that at this time, the NMS R-POD network is in Pilot phase. There is a beta pilot under way beginning in October with a select number of Pilot stores to test the POD mechanisms and process.  If you are interested in participating in the beta in October, or at full launch, estimated in 2013, please submit your information on the Interest in Participation form located on this website, or contact Veronica Gancov at vgancov@nacs.org.

What is the main objective of the POD network?
The NMS R-POD network's main objective is to offer participants quick content delivery once their PDF book files are submitted to NMS for preflighting and are uploaded to our POD Catalog and print network. The Regional Print on Demand network offers you a quick turnaround time, two days from order to shipment can be expected on most orders, and it affords you lower shipping costs since books are printed in close vicinity to your store or company.

What types of content can I submit?
Bookstores can submit many different types of content: OER, faculty generated content, foreign titles, trade as text, custom publishing, University Press titles, course packs, campus based content, and faculty notes prepared as books, in addition to others. Please note that at this time, course packs will be perfect bound as books, instead of using a spiral option.

How do I submit my book files to the R-POD network?
Once your bookstore has negotiated the rights to your content with a publisher, or you have custom content to submit, files are transmitted to NMS using our POD upload form, located on this website. Using the form, you would submit the necessary metadata, shipping and contact information for your book files.

You will then receive further instructions via email to assist you in uploading your PDF files to our FTP upload site. *Please note that you need to be a NACS member to use this service at this time, and will need the password that you use to access other NACS members only website material to upload into the NMS POD network.

What happens to my files after they are submitted to NMS?
Your PDF book files are preflighted to assure that they comply with the printer's file specifications, are corrected if necessary, and are then submitted to the NMS POD Catalog, where you will submit your book order once that process is complete. For file specifications, please see the PDF File Specifications page on this site.

How much time do I need to allow for NMS to preflight files before they are submitted to the POD Catalog and are ready to order?
Please allow at least 1-3 days for NMS to receive your files, process them and have them corrected before print ready files are available for you to order in the POD Catalog.

How do I order my book files from the POD Catalog?
Instructions on ordering your book files will be communicated to Pilot Participants.  Instructions will be located on this website once pilot testing is finalized.

How do I prepare my files to your PDF specifications?
Please refer to the PDF file specifications listed on this website, on the PDF File Specifications page.

Who do I contact if I have questions on any of this?
Please contact Veronica Gancov, at (800) 622-7498, ext. 2343, or by email at vgancov@nacs.org for any help on submitting or creating your book files, or for any general questions you might have.  Thank you.
